How the Bonafide specification and its accompanying code are licensed.

Bonafide is open. The written specification and the code published alongside it use different licenses.

Code and schemas: MPL-2.0

Any code or machine-readable schemas in the specification repository are licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. You can use, modify, and combine them with proprietary code in a larger work, but changes to the licensed files themselves must stay under MPL-2.0 and be shared in source form if you distribute them. It includes an express patent grant and asks you to keep license and attribution notices.

Trademarks

Neither license gives you rights to use the Bonafide name or logo as a brand. Bonafide Technologies Inc. currently holds these rights, and we plan to transfer their stewardship to the Bonafide Foundation once it's established.

This is a plain-language summary. The license texts govern.
